OAG and SCT – is bigger better ???

So after many clear nights with the SCT 9.25″ EHD, and me not getting the guiding working with the OAG, I’ve come to the conclusion that the PlayerOne Ceres-M has a CCD which is too small for the the SCT ! even with the 0.7x reducer ! .

Bring on the bigger is better moto… Xena-M, here are a some photos of the CCD’s side by side

One of the issue i have found, is the StellarMates inbuilt guider uses multiple stars, and to be fair, when you are using a big slow scope like the f/10 sometimes there just inst enough stars for the exposure time (~0.5 – 1.5s) to lock onto.

So lets see if bigger is better !! 🙂
